Garlic is use as a medicine in Ayurveda and also put in to all the vegetable curry we cooked, garlic is rich of anti-oxidant, which has potent medicinal properties, highly nutritious, help to reduce common cold and body pain, help to reduce blood pressure, prevent heart risk, food for the liver, detoxify heavy metals in the body, improve bone health, in Sri Lanka we make this curry for twice a month for detoxifications, and easy to include in your diet and tastes absolutely delicious
Green beans Curry
Green beans are very delicious. In Sri Lanka we have butter beans and green beans. Use for combination curry like potato with beans or mix vegetable curry. Help to reduce cardiovascular disease, preventing colon cancer, reduce diabetes, Boost immune system, good food for eyes and bones, we prepare this curry with Sri Lankan spices keep remaining the green color of the beans which will be crunchy and delicious.
Dahl is a main protein source in Sri Lankan meal, it said “meal is not a proper meal without dahl” very easy to cook and delicious, rich of protein, lower cholesterol, good for heart, magnesium improves blood flows, easy to digest, good for constipation, stabilized blood sugar, boosting energy help to reduce weight, there are so many type of dahl curry. Just enjoy dahl curry with Sri Lankan spices
Mix vegetable Salad
Salad is a popular dish with everyone. Whatever you eat without cooking is super natural, in Sri Lanka (former known as Ceylon) each meal we add one salad it could be green leaves or vegetable or onion, all green vegetables will help to prevent Brest cancer, sharpen your eyesight, improve your muscles, protect your heart and reduce risk of diabetes, lot of fiber will help to digest easer. Polsambal is one of the favorite dish among everyone in Sri Lanka, we eat it with Pittu, String Hoppers, Bread, rice, Rotti, and even with cream cracker biscuits, coconut contains sodium, potassium, saturated fat and is a rich fiber source that help with digestion, adding pepper, salt, lime and chill powder will make mouthwatering taste. Most of Lankan eat rice and polsambal for their breakfast.
Basmati Rice with Ghee
When we concern about rice in Sri Lanka you will find approximately hundred varieties of rice white rice, Black rice, Brown rice, Red rice, Pink rice, and many more. In Ayurveda rice was used as a medicine for specific ailments, we eat rice and curry for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Basmati rice contains all eight essential amino acids, folic acids and its very low sodium and no cholesterol.
Sri Lankan milk tea
It’s one of the energy boosting drink, milk tea has two of the healthiest compounds in a single drink, calcium and antioxidants. In Sri Lanka we drink 3 to 4 pups for a day. This would be the welcome drink when you go to a Lankan house, offering with homemade sweets.
